DICKSON LESTER -Founder & LEADER OF THE BAND

Dickson Lester, plays Guitar, Banjitar, some Harmonica and lead vocals (Founder & leader of the band), is a self taught musician. After trying to learn to play the piano by ear and getting caught by his teacher who refused to teach him anymore after that. He started playing the guitar and singing after working one summer mowing yards for $1 -$5 for 3 months and then getting his Mother to float him a loan for the rest of the money to buy his first guitar at a pawn shop (he said he never could figure out why his fingers bled so much until he bought his first MARTIN guitar. He fell in love with Ballads, Folk, Appalachian, Bluegrass and Irish music. He has no claim to fame just loves to see people smilin' & happy while enjoying his music, especially special needs children, the elderly in homes, and BLUEGRASS fans. He feels Music Transcends all barriers & boundaries to allow love to permeate the minds and airwaves to create a good time for all . Dickson has been known to skip meals rather than miss out on an opportunity to play and sing.

He was HONORED to get to play on the RYMAN AUDITORIUM- GRAND OLE' OPRY STAGE once, for a group of school kids.

Here are some of the fantastic folks Dickson has had the pleasure of playing with and for.

World famous banjo player, Ron Biesel,(who played on Ed Sullivan show same night as the BEATLES made their debut) honored Dickson with his presence in the Mars Hill Porch Pickers group for about 2 years until he earned his wings for his eternal retirement home. Dickson played with Ron at Callaway Gardens, Farm Gardens on several occasions.
