Jan. 1837 - Mars Hill Presbyterian Church organized
1841 - Mars Hill Cemetery deeded Lot 146 - 1.5 acres
1842 - First Camp Meeting held
1843 - James Lemon establishes Sunday School
1850 - Lot 109 - 7 acres Mars Hill Camp Grounds. Present Church site
1859 - Mars Hill sends out 2 ministers - James P. McMillan, D.D. and Samuel Orr
1861 - Mars Hill withdraws from the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America
1870 - Mars Hill establishes a mission church - Acworth Presbyterian
1883 - On land donated by James C. Peters, Mars Hill Church built 32x50 building for $450.00
1901 - Mars Hill Graveyard Association (now Memorial Association) was formed
1902 - 1-room building at Cemetery deeded to Cobb Board of Education - used as a school until 1938
1930 - Mars Hill sends out 4 ministers - Wm. J McMillan, D.D., Robert H. Orr, Homer M. McLain & James F. Aiken
1935 - Women's Auxiliary organized. Daisy Swanson, First President.
1946 - Women's Auxiliary project to build Sunday School rooms
1947 - Vacation Bible School started at Mars Hill
1950 - Install gas heating system, brick veneer outside of church, and construct portico
1956 - Acworth assumes a full-time pastor. Mars Hill shares with Midway Presbyterian.
1965 - Men of the Church and the Church Library established.
1973 - Manse renovated. Property adjacent to church purchased.
1977 - Fellowship Hall completed.
1982 - Fund Raiser (IRA - Improving, Remodeling, Always for Christ) raised $8,000 to pay off Fellowship Hall
1983 - Unification - Presbyterian Church U.S and United Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
1984 - Begin PATH Offering, and participation in the Acworth Food Pantry
1985 - Family Life Center (gym) completed (This becomes the site for the Education Building in 2009.)
1987 - Diaconate re-installed. Mars Hill celebrates 150!
1991 - Ground breaking for new sanctuary (6/2/91)
1995 - Dr. Bryant C. Harris becomes Senior Pastor of Mars Hill Presbyterian Church
1997 - Green property, two houses south of the church, is acquired.
1998 - David Horton is Associate Pastor.
1999 - Old Manse (Blue House) demolished and Modular Buildings installed for classrooms.
2001 - "Annex" property acquired.
2001 - Contemporary Style Worship Service starts on Easter Sunday, April 15.
2002 - Preschool established
2007 - Growing God's Vision Building Campaign started
First mission trip to Chuka, Kenya
2009 - Ground breaking for the new Education Building
Wallace property next to church acquired
Church Offices moved to old Wallace property
Chapel Annex gutted for renovation.
